The 29th Annual Chrysler Employee Motorsport Association (CEMA) Show: http://realfastfotography.com/blog/2018/6/the-29th-annual-chrysler-employee-motorsport-association-cema-show The Chrysler Employee Motorsport Association (CEMA) is a non-profit group of FCA US employees and retirees  who get together to do different car events and share their passion for vehicles. The group doesn't have restrictions on members being Mopar owners either. Many of the members own vehicles from other brands and even a few members have motorcycle collections. Among their group events is the annual CEMA show, held on the Chrysler Technical Center campus in Auburn Hills.

The CEMA organization raises money from the event and donates it to a local non-profit group to benefit the community. For the past couple of years, the money raised has gone to the amazing Leader Dogs For The Blind organization. The program is for training of dogs to assist the blind in their everyday lives and giving those dogs to owners in need. Money raised at the event is not from spectator fees, but the entry fee of the cars participating. So the event is open to the public at no cost.

This year marked the 29th year of the CEMA show. This was the second car meet held in the past two weekends at the Chrysler Technical Center campus. The FCA Design Cars + Coffee event held on June 1st, got hammered with rain. It didn't stop diehard car enthusiasts from coming out for that event. This past weekend, rain also hit the CEMA show which is held in the same lot as the FCA Design Cars + Coffee event. However, this weekend there was even a bigger turnout and more cars that seemed to stick around for the event.

The CEMA group celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Plymouth Road Runner, which made its debut in the 1968 model year. The car was the first of its kind, to stuff the largest engines into a completely stripped down Plymouth Belvedere. Where the Pontiac GTO might have kicked off the muscle car era with huge affordable horsepower, the Plymouth Road Runner did it as well without all the bells and whistles. The CEMA show didn't disappoint even with mixed weather with the turn out of awesome Road Runners on display.

Many other makes showed up at the show as well. Cars like Mustangs, DeLoreans, Chevelles, El Caminos and a ton of other non-Mopar nameplates showed up for the event. Also many vehicles from Mopar's extended heritage lineup showed up to the show as well. Nameplates like Pacer, J10, Commando and Imperial just to name a few among the cars present.

While the event was plagued with rain showers, it was still a blast to attend. The CEMA organization sure knows how to put an amazing event together and really knows how to bring the Mopar community and car community in general together. If you are a Mopar fan, this is one event you will have to put on your Mopar bucket list for sure.

Rain Didn't Stop The Mopar Diehards...

The first FCA Design Cars + Coffee event of the year was held yesterday. Weather forecast said there would be rain in the late afternoon, but like all Michigan weather it didn’t go according to plan. Shortly after the event started, rain hit the area. But, that didn’t stop the diehard Mopar fans from coming out. While some left the event early, the rain subsided for enough time that we got a chance to get some pictures and video of the four concepts on display at the event.

Smith Brothers Offshore Racing Team Boat Recovered... http://realfastfotography.com/blog/2017/5/smith-brothers-offshore-racing-team-boat-recovered The OPA Racing National and World Championship winning Smith Brothers Offshore Racing / CRC Automotive Joker Powerboats hull was recovered from the bottom of the at Atlantic Ocean for over a week.

BAY HEAD - Divers and sailors reclaimed a sunken speedboat from the ocean floor Tuesday, nine days after she sank following a fatal crash against a competing craft in the Offshore Grand Prix.

Shortly after 5 p.m., work crews pulled the Smith Brothers CRC out of the Manasquan Inlet in Point Pleasant Beach. A crane lifted the speedboat onto a boat trailer attached to a pickup truck at Ken's Landing Marina.

Early Tuesday, Stephen Reid, Point Pleasant Beach mayor, said the Berkeley Underwater Search and Rescue Team had located the Smith Brothers CRC. The race was based out of Point Pleasant Beach.

Later, drivers pumped water out of the hull and engine areas as the Smith Brothers sat on the seafloor off Bay Head. Three boats pulled the 26-foot-long racing vessel through the Atlantic into the Manasquan Inlet that afternoon.

The boat is named for its racing team, brothers Richard and Peter Smith, who were thrown from the boat in the fatal May 21 crash.

David Raabe, a 38-year-old throttleman on a speedboat named the "Repeat Offender," was killed in the crash. His teammate, driver James Byrne of Nutley, suffered serious injuries.

Officials said the crash occurred when the Repeat Offender turned unexpectedly in front of the other boat, authorities said at the time. The Smith Brothers went airborne, then came down on top of the Offender.

As the boat sat in the inlet Tuesday, chipping paint and torn seats were the only visible signs of damage to the vessel. Crews had searched for the Smith Brothers for days before locating the boat over the weekend, off Johnson Street in Bay Head.

Numerous divers plunged about 40 feet to raise the boat, where they had to rely exclusively on touch because of scarce visibility, said Chet Nesley, chief diver with the Point Pleasant Beach First Aid Rescue Dive Team.

After raising the boat with lift bags, it then took about four and a half hours - and patience - to bring the boat back to the inlet against the outgoing tide, Nesley said.

"A wounded cat with two legs could go faster than we were going," said Nesley, 64, who has been diving since 1967.

Even with about 16 divers, the effort wasn't easy, said Eddie "Smitty" Smith, president of the Offshore Powerboat Association.

"You can't see an inch in front of you," Richard Zeller, the assistant chief of the Berkeley Township Underwater Search and Rescue Squad, said.

Work crews recover the Smith Brothers race boat. After

Work crews recover the Smith Brothers race boat. After lifting it from the ocean floor they towed up north to the Manasquan Inlet and then hoisted it out of the water with a crane at Ken's Landing. The boat had sank after a crash during the Offshore Grand Prix on May 21. Point Pleasant Beach, NJ Tuesday, May 30, 2017 @dhoodhood   Doug Hood

Divers had been searching for the Smith Brothers on and off since the crash, interrupted by waves and weather. The New Jersey State Police Marine Unit searched alongside the Berkeley volunteer squad.

Although they were thrown from their boat, Richard and Peter Smith declined medical treatment on the day of the crash, though they provided blood samples to the authorities.

Reid said that Byrne's condition has improved in the days since the crash, and the investigation into the cause of the crash continues.

Raabe, of Lacey, worked as a financial adviser and boated in his downtime. He "claimed checkered flags in his racing career and also saw the back of many a tow boat," according to his obituary.

"It feels wonderful that different organizations and agencies came together to help the OPA (Offshore Powerboat Association) in a time of sorrow," Zeller said.

Hopefully we will be able to see this National and World Championship boat back on the water some day soon.

2015 Whistles on the Water - Revisited: http://realfastfotography.com/blog/2016/8/2015-whistles-on-the-water---revisited

We were clearing up some space on our hard drives this week (making room for more offshore videos) when we came across some iON camera footage of the 2015 Whistles on the Water event in St. Clair, Michigan. We had posted a video shot with one of our Canon cameras before and it was a hit on the local Facebook groups. This time, we took the iON Camera footage, left it unedited in its RAW format. There is almost two hours of the event uploaded to YouTube (which you can see above). We also reposted our Canon video below so you can see that as well.

Whistles on the Water is an annual event along the St. Clair River that loudly celebrates Michigan's maritime history. Over 100 steam whistles, many from ships that serviced ports here in the St. Clair River and Lake Huron, are blown throughout the day, sharing the sounds of their beloved past when lake and river travel was powered by steam.

According to Dave Michelson, who narrates the event. Captains tuned their whistles to produce unique sounds that allowed other captains and lay listeners to identify specific ships without seeing them - in fog banks, for example.
